My husband and kids loved this recipe not realizing there were black beans in the burgers.

I really liked her idea of stretching the meat with beans. I'm counting WW points, so I needed to make it healthier. Instead of mashing the beans with olive oil, I put them in the food processor with one egg white. The egg white allowed them to stay together wonderfully. Thanks so much!

In addition to this being a great recipe (this is why I rated it 5 stars Developing Ten dollar meals in this difficult recession is just what many Americans need. Millions have lost their jobs and have difficulty making ends meet. They need shows like this.

I also love that Melissa provides proper portions. Our country is struggling with too many heath issues due to over eating and has become dangerously obese. I hope that we can learn better portion control as others have mentioned in their comments.

Being a savvy coupon user/sales shopper I regularly save 65 - 70% off of my grocery bill.

If you haven't already, I would suggest watching the short video streams on foodnetwork.com where Melissa covers the following helpful money saving topics:
    Shopping the clearance cart
    Day old bread
    Managers Specials
    Bulk shopping
    Lost leaders
    Good buy beans

All of these videos offer great tips. When using the tips from the video, shopping sales and stacking them with coupons, I buy multiples and stockpile items in the pantry and freezer. When you have a well-stocked pantry, Ten dollar meals are absolutely achievable. I love the focus of Melissa's show.

I doubled the recipe but only formed 6 sliders (instead of 8, used minced garlic instead of garlic powder and pan fried them. They seemed to be the right size and my daughter and I only ate 1 (my hubby ate 2. Everyone really enjoyed the burgers and I felt good about feeding them to them. I didn't try the coleslaw but I will next time. I agree with other about the $10 thing being annoying, but I have enjoyed all the recipes of Melissa's that I have tried and I like watching her show

I don't really understand why people give her such a hard time. This was great recipe - my kids loved it. I have very few slam dunks that adults and kids will like and this was definitely one of them. Keep them coming, Melissa and even if you are a couple dollars over budget your ideas and tips really are priceless.

I should've heeded the warning about grilling these outside, but a burger on the grill is just too tempting. Even on our flat top grill topper, these fell apart. It was a mess. The flavor was pretty good, but the whole concept of 'sliders' went right out the window due to the consistency of these burgers. Melissa should've said something about that. I constantly find myself seeing what she's actually cooking looking completely different as an 'end product'. The burgers were much 'fatter' on her buns than they were when she was grilling them, so what gives? Burgers don't 'grow bigger' as they cook, they shrink. Seems deceptive. This SMALL amount ot meat/beans does NOT produce anything but VERY THIN burgers. By the way, to the poster talking about 'Americans being fat and needing to eat less', Melissa isn't tasked to be a diet show. Her task is stretching the dollar. I wouldn't make these again.

I loved added protein from the black beans. My kids ate two apiece without question. Melissa Rocks!

These little sliders worked out very well for me, and the texture and flavor was surprisingly different, but good. I cooked them on an indoor grill pan. I'm not sure they would have held up as well on the BBQ grill though, as they did have a tendency to be looser consistency than regular all beef patties.

as Sue from Lakewood points out, Melissa does have a knack for incorporating beans throughout her recipes. Lots of fiber, good source of meatless protein. Maybe the Food Network should dump the 10 dollar dinner concept for Melissa since so many seem to find that budget hard to hit with her ingredients and give her a new show...'The Queen of Beans', with healthy, low cost recipes featuring different sorts of beans and their myriad uses.

I say who needs that whole 2 ounces of beef per person anyway? Since black beans are only 20 cents for a cup as Melissa says, then why not just mash up a big old mess of 'em, slap a little Worcestershire and A-1 and flip up some hefty man-sized bean burgers! Four people, ten bucks, and infinite possibilities for bean cuisine! You could press and shape the beanie mash into a nice bean pot roast or a bean rib-eye steak or bean tenderloin...or even a fancy Bean Wellington when company comes over. Beans, it's what's for dinner...

I was so excited to try these sliders! This is labor day so I had everything ready for us to dine on these and other grilled meats today. What a shame! The meat and mashed beans made for a loose burger and most of it seperated as it cooked. I had to scrap them off of the rack. Luckly I had grilled hotdogs and sausages or we would not have had a meal. You probebly should grill these on a stovetop grill with raised enclosed grill racks.
