I had every intention of following the recipe to the letter, with the exception of using red wine instead of the vinegar. My 6 year old, being grounded for the weekend, decided to be my shadow in the kitchen, talking nonstop, completely distracting me. I accidentally overdid the tomato paste, using 1 1/2 cans. I have no idea how I got there! To compensate, I added 2 boxes of broth and about a cup of the red wine (Drinking what was left in the bottle! It would have been very easy to just start over, but I was well beyond thinking clearly. I also threw in about 4 bay leaves. I held my breath the whole time it cooked, marveling at the wonderful smells it was creating. Followed the grits recipe perfectly, but did double it... lots of broth, don'tcha know ; It is definitely one of the BEST dinners I've ever tasted. I may try to follow it perfectly next time, but seriously? I think the combination of ingredients melds in such perfect harmony that there's no way to screw it up.

I too, used red wine instead of the vinegar. This is an awesome meal. We all enjoyed it and I am passing it around my foodie circle.

Wow, was this good. I didn't have vinegar, so I used red wine and it was delicious. You do need something to sop up the yummy sauce, so if you don't like polenta, mashed potatoes or noodles work fine.

I'm a long-time fan of country style ribs and this preparation is awesome. Great flavors and the sauce was delicious. The polenta was so good and paired so well with the savory ribs. Thank you, Melissa for another really amazing and easy dinner.

Absolutely amazing. Rich, tasty, hearty. I would try to make more sauce next time - it would be glorious to have more of that delectable gravy to pour over the polenta!

I made this two day ago and have been thinking about it since. Freakin fantastic. I didn't change a thing. I don't have a slow cooker, however, so I made Alton's savory polenta to go with it. My husband, who I tease often for having a baby sized stomach capacity, ate seconds and then some. We were so full that we both laid on the floor afterwards. It's just that good.
