I am a true tomato lover and I love bruchetta, so this was a recipe I had to try. I was feeding vegetarians, so I left off the ham. Unfortunately I did not use enough tomato. They were delicous none the less. Next time I'll really lay it on there. So, so good!

These were fantastic! I toasted the bread in the oven and used smoked ham from the deli and they could not have been any tastier. My husband loved them too. Highly recommend!

I just made these and they were ok. I even used prosciutto. I used some raw and I baked a few slices to try it 2 different ways. I did prefer it with the baked prosciutto b/c it gave it the consistency of bacon. Some I started putting goat cheese on them and then topped with prosciutto. Like I said, they are good but not as good as some of Melissas recipies I've made.

This is excellent without the ham. It is served like this all over Italy and is surprising in its' simplicity. I don't bother with arguing over the cost, but I did figure this out.... without ham. I paid 89 cents for a day old baguette and 40 cents for the tomato. I guess the olive oil might have been a few cents more. Anyway, it's a classic.

The Food Network should rename the show so it can be about the food. I am tired of reading reviews posted to every d'Arabian recipe about the cost of groceries, not the food. I can get a loaf of French bread at my local grocery store (not gourmet store for under a dolor not on sale any day of the week. Melissa always talks about getting her supplies on sale. She never claimed that anyone in any part of the US could walk into any store and in one place get all of the ingredients for under $10. The show states that she was able to go to the farmers market, get what was cheap because it is in season, and buy meat, etc on sale and freeze it. And the web site even covers the day old bread for half off. Not realistic for your life? Well, it is TV. The food on Melissa's show may cost more than $10 if you do not shop sales. Yes, the network should rename the show. But even full price, her food is affordable and easy for the real everyday cook.

for anyone who has tasted Serrano ham, boiled deli ham fried in olive oil just isn't going to cut it. At least use proscuitto which is available just about everywhere where as Spanish Serrano ham might not be. While I may not be a huge Indian food fan, Aarti has Melissa beat in spades

This was great, I live in Highland, CA and shopped at Fresh & Easy, they had their French Baugettes for 98 cents half loaf. They were out so I did slurge a little more and bought a 12 oz bread because that was all they had, it cost $2.18 and was well worth it. This was great and even my 2 yr old son loved the bread...he himself ate 4 pieces crunchiness and all! Thanks Melissa for a great dinner meal! MY FAMILY LOVED IT ALL!

No, null. She saId just "over a dollar" for the bread recipe, $3.50 for the sauteed zucchini and onions. A baguette in my area goes for $1.29 all by itself. Four slices of ham @$1.25 and a 50 cent roma tomato, plus garlic and olive oil runs over 3 bucks. Unless Melissa's got some special contact for free loaves and fishes...

i believe she said the cost of the zucchini and onions were around a $1.00 and the bread with tomatoes was around $3.00 and some change.
