OMG the best!! So easy and can be prepared the night before and let it go all day. My family loves this recipe. I give them the choice of pulled pork sandwiches or Burrito Bowl adn this bowl win's out all the time. I actually used homemade bbq sauce instead of the oregano/cumin oil rub etc. I've done it both ways and it comes out awesome everytime. The best part is crisping up the pork, yum. It's a keeper and have told all my friends about it.

This was good. I think it needs more seasoning. I would recommend increasing the oregano & cumin by about 20% and add salt!!! I had a 2 1/2 lb pork shoulder and cooked it in the slow cooker for 8.5 hours. I think if we went any longer it would have been dry. Also, I included the jalapeno as directed & took out the seeds ... but none of that flavor came through. Next time I might leave the seeds in for some spice. The crisping at the end is absolutely critical! I actually didn't make pico de gallo b/c I ran out of time ... but I did dice up some tomatoes (w/olive oil salt and pepper .. and sprinkled on top. My kids loved this! They are 7, 5 & 3. This Carnitas could also be used in tacos!

This is absolutely delicious. I made it for the 3rd time today and still a huge winner. I have a big family so use more meat, rice and double the pico de gallo. There are several steps, but you can do most of the work in the morning and just assemble at the end. You can make the pico de gallo ahead and leave out the avocado and cilantro till the end. Just precut the cilantro in the morning for the rice and pico so you just add at the end. Our avocados go on sale frequently so I use extra. You can bump up the spice level on the meat as you prefer. I cook the meat in a nonstick skillet with no extra oil. The first time I cooked it too long and it dried out the meat....it doesn't need long. The cilantro and orange zest in the rice add huge flavor. And we offer black beans and pinto beans as some kids prefer one over the other. I love the show and I absolutely love this meal!!!

Whole family loved it! Definitely have to plan ahead in order to have it, what with cooking the beans, slow cooking the pork, etc, but worth it!

It was excellent, we loved it! However, it did take me anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hrs (I wasn't really looking at the time to make.

Made this evening and it came out amazing! I think we will not add oil when we fry the pork to crisp it up... it has enough oil from the meat itself! Great recipe! Will make and conquer this one!
