This was an excellent soup, warm or cold! I liked the red pepper flakes - they added a suprising zing to the creamy, delicious soup. I used an immersion blender instead of a standard blender or food processor and achieved the same smooth consistency. For a sweet twist, I added a sprinkle of cinnamon on top of the dollop of yogurt when serving. You won't believe the taste sensation - a hint of sweetness blended with the spicy red pepper flakes and cumin!

Delicious! I took other's comments and reduced the red pepper flakes, but even making a DOUBLE batch and halving the pepper, it was too spicy - and I like spicy food! It really needs just a pinch. Soup is delicious, though. Has a substantial feel to it, but smooth and tasty. I'd make it again, definitely. I sprinkled some chopped cilantro on top in addition to the green onion.

I reduced the red pepper flakes to 1/2 tsp because although I like spicy food to an extent, I thought 1 tsp sounded like a lot. But even with just 1/2 twp, it was still a little much for me (but not my husband. So, I prepared a second batch, without the red pepper flakes, and then mixed them, therefore reducing the pepper flake by half again, and it was better but still spicy. I think from other experiences that I just don't like red pepper flakes. I do however love cumin. I think I will make this again, but leave out the pepper flakes altogether and maybe add a little extra cumin to make up for it.

it's still chilling, but I tasted it and it's delicious warm, so I'm sure cold it will be also. I used an immersion stick blender to puree it--why wash something else? Worked great....

This is a beautiful soup that is easy to make and so good for you as well. I added some golden beets to it. Flavor is good, but I would cut back on the red pepper flakes to maybe a 1/2 teaspoon. I like food with some heat and kick to it, but the full teaspoon of red pepper flakes was a bit muh even for me. Would definitely make again!
