Delicious! My whole family loved these, the vegetarians and meat and potatoes guys alike! Had to make a second batch! Crispy outside, soft inside, very flavorful and surprisingly easy. Sauce was excellent too.

Although I have eaten falafel many times in my life I never made my own until now. This recipe is excellent. The only thing I changed was I toasted whole cumin and coriander seed dry in a frying pan for about 5 minutes, then ground them in a spice grinder. It makes all the difference. You'll never go back to the powdered. Also, I only used the juice of half a lemon but I added a few grates of lemon zest. I'm surprised Melissa didn't put in the zest as she usually puts it in everything, LOL. I also left out the baking powder and they came out just fine.

Made all three recipes...felafel, salad and sauce. What a great meal. My family loved it. The flavors were bright and complex. everything worked well together. Everything was easy to make. Yes, as others have said, the dough was a little thin, but on reflection, melissa did mention in the episode that she uses small lemons. And I coated my hands with flour and gently rolled and pressed them on the plate of flour, like the recipe says and didn't have any real trouble getting great patties.

This recipe was so good. I can't wait to make it again. I did not make the bean dip, my husband wanted cucumbers and sour cream and I just wanted to eat it already! Anyway I don't think it matters what you serve the falafel with they are delicous!

I have never had falafel before so I really cannot rate this dish with other falafel recipes. However, this recipe was very delicious!! I cooked my own chick peas which I think are more flavorful than the canned. My husband loved this dish as well. It is definitely a keeper. I did not like the white bean dip. I had to use canned white beans. Next time I will not do that.

I thought it tasted great and my husband loved it too. The only comment would be on the quantity of lemon juice in the recipe. I used a whole lemon as directed, but it was a large lemon so the mix ended up being to thin and thusly required alot more flour. I never did get it to a dough consistency like illustrated on tv. I refrigerated it and it was about the consistency of oatmeal at that point ,which I could then drop into the oil with a spoon and it fried up well and a decent patty shape. Adding the extra flour decreased the brightness of the taste from when I first started so that made for a less flavorful falafel. I am not sure how much extra I had to add because I added it a bit at a time with a small scoup, but I would estimate at least double the flour. It would be helpful if the recipe specified a measured amount of lemon juice instead to avoid this in the future. I will start with 1/2 lemon next time and add more liquid if needed.

It was ok, but can't touch Ann Burrell's falafel and tahini sauce recipes. Won't make this one again.

I actually saw this show this morning and decided to give it a try, liking the Middle Eastern cuisine. Preparation was actually fun utilizing the ingredients and the directions. Flavors were excellent. I added a little more parsley and cayenne for personal preference and it turned out great. The accompanying yogurt sauce stood well with the falafel. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a vegetarian meal, middle eastern flavors, or anyone looking to experience a unique dinner experience.
Quick tip...keep your hands moist when making the falafel balls so the mixture doesn't stick to your hands - a result of using too much lemon juice....and not measuring!
