    My elderly parents keep telling me to stop feeding them "sticks and twigs." But, when they are this slaw they both said it was delicious. And, it was so easy to make!

    I have never tried fennel before, but my husband wanted me to try this recipe. It is definitely a keeper! Even my picky son loved it. We'll be using this one a lot. Thanks, Melissa!

    Have been eating (from Mother and making, myself, cabbage salad with fennel and thinly sliced carrots for years. Never used mayo - being from a European home we have always used, and I still do, only extra virgin olive oil , not mayo.

    But, I thought I would try it anyway after watching her on the show....well, I followed the recipe exactly and ended up throwing it away. Just awful. No taste - the consistency was terrible - sorry but will not make this again - will stick to my extra virgin oil, good organic vinegar, salt, pepper and a nice big fat slice of feta cheese on the top. Now that is great and there are no leftovers~

    I don't like Fennel all that much, but this was sooooo good my husband and very pickie daughter love this. Bacon is really good with it. When I got the Fennel they only had very small ones, I thought great I don't like it that much, but after dinner I wished I had had more in the salad.

    I will be taking this to the next party where they want me to bring a salad.

    So glad you won, I watched every show and was Praying you would win. Although if they had let both of you win that would have even been better.

    Thanks for all the money saving tips, we can all use them these days!!

    God Bless

    I was wary when my husband decided to make both the fennel/cabbage slaw and the chicken a l'orange; the combination of fennel and red cabbage seemed odd. One bite later, I was as much a devoted fan as my husband. The slaw is incredibly simple and quick to make, while being absolutely fantastic to eat. The licorice flavor of the fennel brought depth and vibrancy to the slaw that I never expected. Definitely one for the recipe box!

    I absolutely loved this recipe. My family jury is still out on this one. It was their first time trying fennel. I would have added a couple of extra pieces of bacon. I loved the sweet/salty taste of the dish, plus the light flavors of licorice. It tastes even better the next day. I will definitley make this one again, even if it is only for me;

    I am not a great cook. Half the stuff I make doesn't turn out very well. I made the entire menu from this episode, and everyone loved it! There were no leftovers. I was so excited! My husband was so proud! I will make everything Melissa recommends! Melissa rocks!!

    I prefer red cabbage to the green kind so this recipe interested me when I watched the show. I made it for my famiily and it was a huge hit. My husband is on a low fat diet, so I( subbred a low fat mayo in the dressing, but it was still great. He especially appreciated the bacon bits in this slaw.
    II made it again to take to work. I sliced the veggies the night before and packaged the bacon in a small plastic bag. The dressing was put in a small cup and I kept the whole thing in the frdge until shortly before lunch. I just put the bacon into the cabbage and fennel and topped with the dressing to blend while I put my sandwich together. My coworkers were jealous when I gave them a taste of the slaw. I did tell them where to get the recipe. Thanks, Melissa. This is a winner. I'm going to expand the recipe to take to my next covered dish event.
