I'm not a big Cole Slaw fan to begin with but this was awesome. My husband even said he'd rather have this than KFC Cole slaw ( a huge compliment from him. I've liked fennel for a while now, but it's nice to find some more dishes to add it to. Very easy too, (yes I cheated and used the food processor to slice the cabbage and the fennel

I always wanted to know what to do with this weed that grows wild around here ... so i totally learned a new thing. For the dressing i used Splenda and i forgot the bacon. But it still was delicious ... a new fresh taste to my old stand by slaw. I don't know if i can post URL's here but in any case here is a picture of the whole meal: http://fastblogit.com/permalink/?item=12467

I got some fennel in my CSA and found your recipe. It's now one of my favorites! Now if you could post the recipe to those apple caramel tarts you made on the first episode of Food Network Star.. I'd be in heaven.

When I tasted the dressing I thought it might be too strong in flavor but it stood up nicely against the intense flavors of cabbage and fennel. The bacon is fantastic in this salad and unexpected. Way to go, Melissa! I will be making this for company. It's a winner.

I love fennel, and have been looking for different ways to use it. I primarily use it in soups, and when I have used it in a salad, I always used just small amounts. I was so intrigued by Melissa's recipe that I had to try the salad and promptly made more when my family devoured the first. The bacon really makes this salad and the sweetness of the fennel counterbalanced by the acidic (but creamy dressing was a marvelous note. My husband (who hates salad has already asked for it again for this weekend. Thanks Melissa!!

This slaw is fantastic!!! The fennel is not overpowering, it blends with the cabbage for a subtle and unique flavor. I loved the bacon, I had never had that in slaw and it just made this slaw out of this world!! I made the potatoes and the chicken from this episode too and I am so glad that Melissa won so she can bring us more recipes like these!! Easy for any cook to make and yet gourmet and inexpensive too!! I love Ten Dollar Dinners With Melissa!!!!!

I made this slaw without the bacon and it was delicious. It was also very simple to make . The dressing is fantastic and easy. Thank you, Melissa. I am a fan and loved you on the search show. Congratulations on winning your own show.

I had never had fennel before and this just gave me another vegetable that my famiily will eat. This salad was wonderful and the bacon addition was amazing crunch. The fenel is pricey but the cabbage is super cheap. I definitly made this dish under 10. My family loved it. Thank you

Super easy and tasty! Might leave the fennel out next time and add some of my own touches, but still just a great base recipe for slaw.

I have always been afraid of fennel, never ever daring to try it. I just finished dinner of Crispy Skinned Chicken Ala ' Orange, fennel cabbage slaw and cous cous. My family and myself have savored every single bite!! We love Melissa's tips such as the bacon in the freezer and cutting the width of the bacon rather than by the slice for lardones, placing scallions in a cup of water, and using high dollar ingredients with inexpensive ones to create gourmet recipes. Melissa truly is a food network star!! Thanks for the yummy recipes, and keep them coming
