This is my first time cooking one of Melissa's dishes. I watched her on Next Food Network star and rooted for her the entire time, but sadly, I have never watched her show until very recently when I started dvr'ing it. I saw her make this a couple of weeks ago and knew this would make a great affordable addition to one of my weekly menus. And I was right! This dish is so full of flavor, so easy, and so delicious! Even my daughters gobbled them up, who are 8 and 4 years old and kept asking for more! What a great dish that is kind on the wallet and tastes extrememly exotic!

I had to improvise with the fish. I had frozen filets. I cut them into strips and threaded them on two skewers per. The chimichurri was great but I left out the vinegar and used just a tad extra lemon juice.

Up in poor old Maine fresh Haddock was 4.99 a pound this week. Zuchinni 1.39 a pound.
The herbs are the biggest cost( 2.00 per herb. But in the summer they would cost 00.00 as have them in abundance in the summer.. People offended by the limits set by food net work need to help come up with the name that will keep you happy. Oh wait? Maybe you don't want to be happy?

Turned out good...Also to the reviewers complaining about the price. I actually wondered the same thing at first, but then I realized something- I believe this is Ten Dollars PER PERSON. Not 10 bucks total...That was my 'Aha' moment.

Tried this tonight for dinner with Cod and it was great! The Chimichurri really makes this dish extra yummy.

Just a thought, but if there are 10 ounces of fish and a pound and a quarter of squash ( 20 oz. and eight cherry tomatoes, shouldn't this recipe be called Veggie skewers with fish? Or maybe squash skewers with fish and fruit in Chimichurri sauce, since tomatoes are technically a fruit?

Whatever you want to call it, it looks yummy!

These skewers were very good, and a big hit with my family for dinner. But I did buy a full pound of the cod as I felt more of a fish presence was needed in the recipe. As does Donna, I live in California, and like most people by necessity and for convenience, I do shop in the "high-priced" grocery stores. I find most of Melissa's claims of her low price discoveries and uber-specials to be non-existent in the world of reality. I understand Donna's loyalty and support for Melissa, but using produce from her wonderful garden or substituting bargain fish from her freezer does nothing to substantiate Melissa's ten dollar promise for a meal for four persons.

The premise of the show is to blame, whether it's of the Food Network or Melissa's concept. Melissa consistently exceeds her10 buck budget by a long shot, whether she or her doting fans want to admit it. Her food is good. I shall continue to watch. But the 10 dollar dinner title, concept, and promise is a joke.
