the butter with the tomatos gave the sauce a velvety rich feel on the tongue, a great tip i will use again with a tomato sauce

wonderful! The olive oil/butter combo make it a nice change from the same old tomato sauce i usually make, and lets face it, anything with 9 cloves of garlic (plus 1 for luck ; has to be good! I think next time ill take other's idea and add shrimp. I also added oregano and tossed the fresh basil in right before i served- yummy!

Only one 15-ounce can of crushed tomatoes to sauce a pound of spaghetti? Really? I got by with one 28-ounce can and added sauteed mushrooms for some bulk and texture appeal while keeping vegetarian. Couldn't stand to put in more than 4 tablespoons of butter and even then tried to forget it was in there. Otherwise simple and good.

I took the advice of some of the others and knocked the butter down to half. I truly enjoyed this meal. Easy as pie, delicious and inexpensive. Will be my dinner tonight with a few shrimp thrown in (couldn't hurt. This sauce reminds me of the flavorful yet simplistic sauces I used to eat in Italy. I will keep this one in my book and I love that the cook time is so short compared to more complex sauces. Fresh basil on top and freshly grated Parmesan cheese are a must!

I made this on Saturday and I am loving this spaghetti! Quick and good. Although I'm sure how to prevent the garlic from drying out as it did so almost immediately and I was sauteeing it low and slow, but nonetheless, this is the easiest and best tasting spaghetti I've had in a long time!

loved it but only had fettuccini noodles. I am sure it will be much better next time with real spaghetti noodles.

Saw the show and wanted to try this as I LOVE garlic, but the previous "bad" reviews made me nervous about trying it. I have to say, I am so glad I did try it, despite them! Followed the recipe exactly, except I didn't have fresh basil for garnish, so I added 2 tsp of dried basil to the sauce at the end. The butter and olive oil, not only make it rich, it lends another level of moisture to the sauce that sometimes get lost, especially when reheating leftovers. Summed up, simple sauce, lots of flavor! Added to my pasta staples!

Great recipe. I altered the recipe a little because of some reviews. I doubled everything except I used 3/4 cup olive oil and 6 Tbsp. butter. It will probably be even better tomorrow.
