Ingredients
Directions

Place the flour in a resealable plastic bag and season with the garlic, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Place the chicken pieces in the bag with the flour and toss to coat (work in batches). Transfer the breadcrumbs to a rimmed plate, season with salt and pepper and set aside.

Whisk the egg and 1 tablespoon water in a medium bowl. Remove a piece of chicken from the flour, dip in the egg mixture, then the breadcrumbs, gently pressing the crumbs into the chicken, and set on a clean plate. Repeat with the remaining pieces of chicken.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces to the pan (work in batches if needed) and brown on each side, about 8 minutes total. Use a spatula to transfer the chicken nuggets to a paper-towel-lined plate. Salt while hot and serve.

I do not want to leave a negative comment, but I need some help and advice. I used this recipe yesterday, and had some major problems. I tried to follow the directions, but encountered problems I do not know how to fix. I placed the chicken pieces in the bag with flour and tossed to coat. I then whisked the egg and water. I took the chicken and dipped it into the egg mixture, and tried to coat it in the planko bread crumbs. After the 2nd or 3rd nugget, the egg mixture became thick and would not coat the chicken, and gummed up on my fingers. When I tried to coat it with bread crumbs, after the second or third piece, it was hopeless. Only a half or less allowed the bread crumbs to even stick to it. This is supposed to be an easy recipe!! What am I doing wrong? Can you please advise. Also, by the time I finished 2 or 3 nuggets, my fingers were so caked up with the mixture, I had to wash them several times during preparation, and it didn't help except clean my fingers. item not reviewed by moderator and published
These were really good Melissa, thanks. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Do you have any thoughts on oven-baking these? Would the recipe need to change much? item not reviewed by moderator and published
You're getting too much flour on your chicken. Pat dry the chicken pieces first then dip in flour. You only want a small amount of flour on your chicken ONLY to help the egg wash to stick. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I will try that method Roger, thanks for the advice. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Spray them with some cooking spray, back at 400 on a wire rack, they'll come out great! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Are you saying put the nuggets on the wire rack and not on a pan? Also, how many minutes? item not reviewed by moderator and published
