First time I've ever made shrimp scampi. My husband loves shrimp and he was very excited. I found it to be too much pasta. We had a ton left over. I'll make less of that next time. The directions were easy to follow and it was as good as any restaurant.

Melissa rocks! I don't like Shrimp, so I substituted thin sliced chicken that I cut into 1 inch pieces. It also deleted the shrimp stock step since I used chicken stock from the box. I added 1 extra tbsp of butter. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly and it was DELICIOUS!!!!

    Thank you Melissa!!!

I want to know where Melissa shops.

I can't find shrimp, fresh or frozen for under $5.99 a pound (and that's a sale week. Lemons are $.50-.69 each, also on sale. I can't get a bunch of parsley for under $.69 and it is most often .89. I guess pantry items don't count but they still cost money -- 6 cloves of garlic, 1/4 onion, 6 T olive oil (that's 3/4 c, pepper, salt, etc. Then there's broccoli. It has been running $1.49 a pound and parmesan, a small wedge costs about $6.

If you are making the dessert [Melissa used a store brand], that will run you about $5 on sale for the box she had and for four, because they didn't get much shrimp, you might need half of it. Not everyone has a block of bittersweet chocolate bar so you will have to buy it and they run about $2.19 for the piece she had. Of course you will eat what is left over.

Melissa's meals are consistently underpriced and they are heavy in carbs and fats. If you are serving something like her potato/cheese pie, you will need to reserve an ambulance in advance.

I watched Sandra Lee prepare her budget meal before Melissa and it was a filling and complete meal. She had chicken wings, steak, strawberry shortcakes and a cocktail -- very Sandra. I used to dislike her with her "tablescapes", etc. but since Melissa has been on, Sandra is looking better and better. Sandra's meal for four ran $28 and you don't get starving portions. If Melissa was honest her meal costs more like $15 and I would starve on 6 itty-bitty shrimp.

This is one of my favorite meals. My husband is not a fan of pasta but next week I will be on Fall Break from school so I intend to make this and use your pastry recipe to make me a fall treat also. Do more pastry dinners or deserts. You have so much more to offer us....Come on Food Network we love her in Georgia, let her do more with her talents. You remind me of Rachel Ray when she started.

WHERE DOES MELISSA BUY HER GROCERIES??? THE SHRIMP COST $10.99 A POUND, THE LIMGUINA $1.99 AND THE FRESH PARSLEY $3.99. HOW SHE CAN SERVE 4 PEOPLE ICE CREAM FOR $2 IS NOT TRUE. THE ICE CREAM (THE BRAND THAT SHE USED IS $4.99 AND THE CHOCOLATE CANDY BAR $2 ON SALE. WE WON'T COUNT THE BROCCOLI WITH CHEESE THAT SHE SAID COST $1.00 OR THE 2 LEMONS. THIS RECIPE IS EXACTLY IN INA GARTEN'S COOKBOOK. SORRY, MELISSA, BUT I CANT WATCH YOUR SHOW ANYMORE. WE NEED A REAL CHEF ON """"PRIMETIME""""".

    Melissa,
You have so many money saving ideas, time saving steps that I have learned by watching your show. I also like where you show diferent methods of fixing dinners for not much money. I dont like spicey foods, really so your approce to cooking is really refreshing because your recipes are still very tastey without the spices and it always lost yummy and good to eat I cant wait to try you dishes. Keep up the good work. Your doing a great job. I never miss you show.

I ALWAYS LOVED SHRIMP SCAMPI, THIS RECIPE IS VERY FLAVORFULL, AND EASY.

NOTE: ON MARINADE, MELISSA BROUGHT SAUCE TO A BOIL, AND SIMMERED, I THINK THIS IS OKAY WAY TO USE MARINADE IN A DISH.
