Disappointing. Bland and not very sweet. Also, it may have baked better in a larger pan... 1.5 qt size left the top/sides overcooked by the time the center cooked.

I have baked at least 20 different variations of banana bread over 30 years since I was 15 yo. This has to rank in the top 3. (My personal favorite from childhood is still the Tollhouse butterscotch chip banana nut bread. Not too sweet. Moist but not overloaded with soft bananas. I agree a touch of cinnamon to this really helps highlight the chocolate. LOVE the juice of Orange that sharpens the taste and moistens the bread. I did add a dash of baking powder with increased banana and vanilla on my second batch to experiment with a slightly "gooeyer" bread. But the original recipe is perfect.

Very tasty! My picky kids also loved it. However 1 1/2 quart = 6 cups = 8in X 4in loaf pan, became a bit small for this. It may be better if it said 9in x 5in loaf pan.

Just awesome. I made a few loaves to give as Christmas gifts and my daughter insisted I keep a loaf for her! So easy and makes the house smell wonderful. Winner!

This was such an amazing recipe! It was easy and soooo yummy. Originally, they were great as written, but in a later batch, I made an addition of 1-1/2 tsp. of cinnamon (which complemented the chocolate AND the banana bread and I turned them into mini-muffins (bake time of 10 minutes. I also left off the confectioners' sugar dusting. They were plenty sweet enough on their own.

I was not a fan of Melissa but that has changed. This Banana Bread is absolutely delicious and will be my new favorite. I am going back to all her recipes with a new found respect and will try the ones that I feel my husband will eat as he is the pickiest eater on the planet.

The best banana bread chocolate chip recipe ever!! First time I made the recipe and the family loved it. Easy to follow recipe and instead of creaming sugar with the butter, I used a mixer to cream the sugar with chopped ripe bananas. Also used melted butter and added to the mixture along with the eggs. Provide enough moisture for the dry ingredients. Came out perfect!
