Sorry guys, some comments are necessary:
    1. Sweat is a cooking term that means to slowly cook a veggie to get it to produce or give up some of its liquid, just like sweating.
    2. The addition of a small amount of ground ginger and/or nutmeg is quite tasty.
    3. Carrot soup is often pureed, just like tomato soup, just be sure the carrots are fully cooked to prevent a grainy texture. I don?t eat baby food often so I really can?t comment.
    4. Apple cider is a good sub for wine per other reviewers in other recipes.

NOW FOR DEAR ESTHER. Wine in cooking is to add flavor. The alcohol cooks off in the heat, yeah really. Alcoholics are not getting it on by adding wine. BUT, you can get happy with a little education, oops maybe not, maybe never.
$10 meals oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez, not in my supermarket.

Perhaps if recipe had been written "and allow to sweat and soften" the reading of the recipe would not have alarmed the reader and she would not have assumed she was "adding" sweat. Most cooks understand what "sweat" means in a recipe. And for the other reader, "perspiration" was not intentionally implied!

"Sweat" is a verb, not a noun. You don't add sweat....you let the veggies cook until they "sweat" and soften. It says about 5 min. Don't sweat the small stuff unless the recipe says to. Good luck.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong.... "Add the carrots and the onion and sweat".

I decided to try this recipe & it was great. I added a potato, added some parsley - used the zest of the orange. The soup came out so creamy - it was easy to make, and I will absolutely make this again. It was hard to believe that something this thick and creamy was obtained without any cream or dairy product.

I'm not much of a cook (ask anyone!, but I made this soup and I now have a budding fan club. Thanks Melissa!

Just a couple of other comments -

When shopping, especially when taking items out of the bargain bin, keep a ballpark idea of what the total should be. Sometimes the bar code (aka original price overrides the "sale" sticker (aka what you think you are paying - I saved $20 yesterday by knowing my total should be around $30 instead of $52.

Thank you FN for this show. I love the way this host presents her information - the Babar of FN shows - the main idea and lots and lots of fascinating and useful details that make cooking fun.

Also, it has been helpful in keeping me on my diet because I do feel as if I had shared the meal with Melissa by the end of her show. Brava!
