We had never had orzo and I didnt know how to fix. This was Great. I love that Melissa is focusing on family low cost dinners in this economy. i want to serve tasy dinners that dont have a million ingredients and are fast to fix. Keep it up Melissa. I rooted for you all the way from the beginning.

I would have given this recipe five stars but I agree with the other reviewers TOO MUCH WATER!!!

The flavors of lemon zest, thyme, and pepper flakes were VERY GOOD.

Next time I make this recipe, I will just use chicken broth.

I am sure it will be EXCELLENT the next I make it.

It was a good recipe, however it called for way too much water.

Yes adding 2 cups of water to 1 1/2 cups of broth is too much liquid for only adding 3/4 cup of orzo. Either decrease your water, not the broth or increase your orzo. Decrease or increase according to your own personal tasting of how you like pasta though it should be al dente, even orzo.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I followed the directions exactly and after 10-15 minutes I still had a LOT of water/stock left over with overcooked pasta. It tastes okay, but...? On the show she specifically did NOT drain the water, as it was supposed to be like a risotto, but mine is more like soup! I will make again, but use probably 1/2 the water recommended and all the stock.

Orzo is so easy to make. I have to disagree with the first reviewer that the liquid is not correct. I never even measure my water, I just cook it like pasta and drain when it is done - about 8 minutes. The trick is not to over cook it. The flavor combos in this dish are terrific. Thanks Melissa! I look forward to seeing your new shows and making your recipes!
