I saw this on the show today, and since I was already planning to make potatoes for dinner, decided to try it out.

Absolutely delicious - I've never gotten potatoes this crispy in the oven before!

I used a bit less oil, and added a clove of garlic to the potatoes while I was sauteeing the potatoes. I probably would have used a tiny bit less butter as well, but these are fantastic and SUPER simple!

I made them for my husband and I for dinner tonight and I was banking on their being leftovers to take to work, but the potatoes were so go that we ate the entire pan. When I grew up my dad always made fried potatoes and I enjoyed them a lot growing up but these potatoes were the BEST ONES I have ever ate!! Thank you Melissa for sharing these awesome easy recipes.

The trick with adding water and steaming the potatoes was excellent. They really did come out more tender and fluffy on the inside. We made these for dinner tonight and they were really good. I'm going to season them differently next time, but the tip still works.
    Thanks!

I've never made hash brown potatoes this crispy - they were perfect. Melissa is so full of unique little ideas. I never, never would have steamed potatoes that I wanted to come out crispy, but it really worked! I found that they really needed the full 25 minutes to come out pretty and brown. Simple, cheap, delicious side dish. Now, if she could only tell me how to make perfect crispy oven sweet potatoes.

Like the other comments, they are awesome. They taste like the potatoes I have at the Palms restaurant in Vegas. Way to go. Congrats to you on winning Melissa! You are doing an awesome job. Good luck!

Melissa commented on this on the show, which is to make sure to get the water out of the potatoes if you put them under water to avoid the oxidation. I thought I had, but apparently, not enough, because I couldn't get them to brown, even under the broiler.

Tne flavor was fine. I added some garlic and onion powder to the mix.

I really love Melissa's show. When I watch it, I always want to make her recipes. I can't wait for more episodes.

Moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I did use garlic salt instead of just plain salt.

I eagerly await the next recipes :-
