Seriously the best comfort food ever! Who knew... prunes & beer would be so great!
Make this with some home made mashed potatoes and poof you are transported to a warm cozy, comforting place. I was so sad when I had finished my dinner.
I will now make all of my stew with this as a base!

This recipe came out amazing! I didn't really want to hang out and cook onions for a half hour, so I turned the heat up to speed up the caramelization. I left out the prunes and I couldn't find slabs of bacon, so I just used lower sodium sliced bacon and chopped it into large pieces. I used Kinda Blue Blueberry Wheat Beer, and that turned out to be the most amazing gravy I may have ever had! My 4 year old daughter and husband couldn't get enough of it. I will DEFINITELY be making this regularly!!

My husband said this was one of the best things to come out of our kitchen, and he already loves my cooking. Very easy prep work, although it is time consuming (waiting for bacon to cook, 30 mins to caramelize the onions, browning the meat but definately worth it! Next time I will chop the prunes so they melt in more, but no other changes - super tasty! (I used a nut brown ale.

Very easy to make. I switched the thyme for 2 bay leaves. It was delicious.

Easy and tastes great! Serve with french bread to soak up the juices left on the plate. Used a cherry stout beer (New Glarus. Meal was outstanding!

    Amazing! Great flavor!
The sweetness of the prunes is a great balance for the bitterness of the beer. My favorite beef pot roast without doubt!

always a 5 star when hubby goes back for seconds and thats exactly what happened with this recipe. Hubby usually does not like sweets in his foods but he didnt seem to mind in this dish. My father in law and children loved it too. Will def make this again. I didnt change a thing in this recipe and do not plan too except maybe leave out the prunes just to see if there is a difference. BTW I used bud light since I had it on hand and it was just fine. Thank you Melissa!

This was the best tasting beef stew I have ever had. The only thing I would do differently next time is add a little more of the beef stock as mine turned out just a little on the dry side. This recipe is a keeper!

Love, love, love! So savory! I added extra flour to thicken up the "gravy.". Served with mashed potatoes.

Easy and delicious! For thirteen years my pot roast never looked pretty nor tasted that great, but my husband loved this recipe! I used Blue Moon beer and it gave it a sweet taste to it. This recipe will definite be made again.
