My husband loved this dish. The pastry is more like a puff pastry when it bakes but very simple to make and work with. I would slice the potatoes thinner next time, the potatoes weren't as tender as they should be.

Mon-o-Mon is this dish good. I made it just like you said and it was fantastic. I wish there was some leftovers.

I loved this as a nice comfort food type of dinner. I did add some minced onion and fresh nutmeg. It was awesome. Thank you Melissa! I also served it with the salad and applesauce.

So yummy and rich!!! I was amazed with how beautiful it turned out. I didn't want to make the crust from scratch so I went to the store and all they had was some Betty Crocker, just add water, pie crust mix. I did all the work of a homemade crust for sure. I was nervous considering I've never made pie crust but it really turned out delicious. I also had to sub the cheese and just picked up some lite swiss cheese, since that was the closest they had. I can't wait to have my sisters come over so I can make this for them, they will love it!!!

This receipe may use simple ingredients, but the result is far from ordinary!
My teenage daughter would eat this every day and I really enjoy it too! It is not low calorie. but well worth the occasional splurge. It's something really different to serve guests.

I love every recipe of Melissa's I've tried so far - however as a working mom I admit I never do these during the week. I normally do them on Sunday.

this was a delicious meal and my kids loved eating it :

It was like scalloped potatoes and pie all in one. It was delicious. It held over very well, I could see taking it to a party easily. The only thing I did a little differently was after I put the egg wash on the pie crust, I sprinkled on kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. It was really pretty. Thanks for the great recipes. Mom's rock.

The store brand pie crusts were on sale this week so i swamped them out to save a step (if i weren't a step away from being put on bed rest in my last trimester i would of tried her crust.
The recipe was a cinch!! And i just loved it....the creamy potatoes, the tangy cheese and bacon...i was in heaven. Got to say it just looked amazing too..everything held together so well..
