This is an amazing recipe. Everyone in my family loves it.
I am not a big gruyere fan, so I use what ever cheese I have on hand and it still comes out amazing.
.....but the real star of this dish is the amazing crust!
Thank you Melissa for a great dish and inspiring me to do more with less everyday!

Super recipe! Pair with a salad and you have a scrumptious meal. Not at all confusing; as with all recipes I try, just read the recipe through before begining.

I have never made a pie crust from scratch before, and it was so easy...not to mention flaky, buttery and tasty. I made this dish for company, and everyone loved it! Thanks for sharing your family's pie dough recipe. Love the show!

I had to read the directions 3 times because the directions were confusing. Shouldn't the crust recipe be listed first and the directions for what to do with the crust dough. Starting with take the pie pan out of the fridge was confusing when we had not even gotten to that part yet.

Aside from the recipe being awesome, I've now used this crust recipe for an apple pie as well. Can I just say? BEST PIE EVER...and it was because of the perfectly buttery, flaky crust. And it is so easy to make! Thanks Melissa for the tips about keeping the butter cold, etc. to make it work so well. I've always loved to cook, now I'm excited about baking more too! House of PIES here I come!

I recently shared this at a 4th of July potluck party. I brought 2, and they were gone within the first 20 minutes. My son didn't even get a piece! I am still receiving facebook messages and emails requesting the recipe. I just send them Melissa's link! It's something easy and quick that the kids enjoy (I use frozen crust in a pinch, I know, how awful. Be sure to slice your potatoes VERY thin. Mmmh.

The pie crust in this recipe is heavenly, buttery and flakey. I've used it over and over again and it has not failed.
