This is by far one of my favorite recipes from her. I did use extra sharp ceddar (and LOTS of it and some extra bacon. Was by far one of the easiest pie crusts to make. There is no need to ever buy a pie crust when you have this wonderful and easy recipe.

This is my new fave recipe! You can substititue store bought crust and pretty much any cheese (cheddar, swiss, etc. with the same flavorful results. I also add extra cheese for richness.

I make this all the time now! OMG this is the most amazing potato dish I have ever had. And if you don't have the time, there are shortcuts that I take. Store bought pie crust dough, and real bacon bits are a life saver when you are in a time crunch.

Pastry crust recipe is fantastic! Torte is tasty, and makes a great brunch dish, or a nice lighter meal combined with a salad.

I don't see what all the hype is about. I wanted to like this recipe!!! But I was quite let down by this recipe. It was OK - just OK. It was a lot of work to assemble all of the parts - frying the bacon, making the dough, then washing the darn food processor, simmering the cream, peeling potatoes, cutting potatoes with mandolin, shredding the cheese... a lot of steps (and dishes to wash for an OK pie. I too doubled bacon, but it still didn't feel quite "entree" to my family - brunch perhaps.
Like many others, I had to cook mine for 70-75 minutes. I would definitely use all of the cream.
I may make the crust again. I will not make the torte again.

The pie crust is wonderful and I have used it for several recipes and is always wonderful. The Potato-Bacon Torte is fantastic. So delish. I've made it a couple times and it is now a family favorite. Sooooo Good!
