This recipe is very hard to follow despite minimal steps, but wonderful. I used greek yogurt instead of sour cream, and it is really great. It is incredible with left over ham from a spiral sliced ham.

These were so good and I really had to substitute....I cannot imagine how yummy they would be if I had the right stuff. I actually soaked Colby cheese slices in Marsala instead of shredded Swiss/white wine. I also had to use turkey bologna instead of ham and had some pretty lame dinner rolls and STILL this was yummy. I plan on making this next week with the right stuff. Thanks Melissa, you are awesome.

These are delicious! Made the recipe exactly as written, easy and yummy brunch item. Left off the egg for my little one and served his with a scrambled egg on the side. Didn't have any white wine is I didn't use it with the cheese, still turned out delicious! I also poached the eggs instead of frying them. This is a family favorite that's quick, easy to prepare and easy on the wallet!

Love. I used different cheese (whatever I had, maybe a Monterey jack? and left it in too long so it burned a little (bummer. But I scraped that off, and the sandwich was SO rich. Something I did for the egg was cook on low for quite a while so it was near perfect, just a tad overdone. I made the whole meal, loved it so much I took pictures!

As a recipe should be quick and simple, I just need to work on the end timing with the eggs. My eggs finished up a little too early. Gotta work on that but loved the finished sandwich.

Made these last night. Used prosciutto instead of ham because that's what I already had. But I think ham would actually work just as well. Everything else I did as directed and these were wonderful. Crispy brad against creamy top with the slight richness of the light zing of the sauce. served with a side of leftover Israeli Cous Cous Tabouli that I made from Meliss'a last show. Perfect light, bright balance tot he rick Croque.

And yes, "Marie in NYC" as has already been pointed out, a croque madame is traditionally made with ham, not chicken. And you can barely buy an apple for less than $10 in NYC. So that's an aberration from the normal viewer. I go to a regular supermarket...no Walmart or discount store... and always come in under $10 with Melissa's menus.
