Tasty! Quick, and easy dinner for the family. Perfect since I had all of the ingredients on hand. Certainly will make this again!

I enjoyed this more than I expected to! I was in a hurry and had no time to make a traditional cream/dijon sauce, and was happily surprised with the sour cream-based substitute. Had no trouble quartering the recipe for one. I had no swiss or white, so I substituted a combo of shredded cheddar and mozzarella mixed with a few drops of vermouth. It turned out great - I was wishing I'd made 2! ;

Too much garlic for us. It was quick & easy, but we prefer the more traditional version.

This was the easiest, tastiest recipe I have tried in a very long time. And yes, it was well under $10.00. Thanks Melissa! Watched you win and couldn't be prouder of the average mother and her abilities!!! You make a woman proud!

Marie NYC said "the same week that this aired ..."
The "the whole point is there is no ham" is incorrect. But what would Ms D'Arabian know about French food having lived in France and being married to a Frenchman. A simple internet search would have revealed that substituting chicken for the ham is a British or American adaptation of the French version which does use ham, and saved you the embarrassment of posting such a pedantic statement.
I have made a number of D'Arabian's recipes and while not all come in under the ten dollar limit I have found that they generally come close and if I shop the deals she suggests in the show it is generally doable. But if you are not conscientious or spend your time looking down your nose at the local bodega I agree it would be hard to accomplish.

the same week that this aired my local PBS ran the Julia/Jacques sandwich show
A Croque Madame is different because it uses sliced chicken (or turkey maybe but the whole point is that there is no ham
futhermore, I defy anyone to make these dishes for under $10 if one lives in an urban area without the benefit of warehouse stores or Walmart

I was in Paris 10 days last year and ate at least 5 croque madames/monsieurs. This recipe was so similar it made me want to go back. Excellent!
