Agree Midmodtom (even taking into account buying BIG bags of onions and potatoes at Sam's or wherever, the salad cost $10.08 itself. Lettuce looked like 2 heads, quantities shown exceeded '2 large red potatoes' and '1 tomato' and there were more than 8 egg halves. Anchovies aren't on even listed on her recipe, so they weren't even counted in calculations. Vinaigrette's pretty standard. Nothing to get too excited about.

Thank you, Melissa. Twas as good as any I ate in France. Wish you would NOT be limiting yourself to meals for $10. With food costs rising, you have placed yourself in somewhat of a bind. Most people spend varying amounts for different occasions. Would enjoy your varying from the $10 format at least once a month. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas.

Great episode with great recipes, but I defy Melissa to show me her register receipt showing that she got all of those ingredients for $10.

Amazingly I had almost all the ingredients except the green onions. My husband and I liked the salad. He thought the dressing was a little thin. I liked it, especially the olives (although I used briny ones I had gotten from the Italian market. Great mixture of flavors and quite easy to prepare
