I made these salmon cakes last night for dinner. My family loved the taste but I thought they were pretty time consuming for something so simple. Also my salmon mixture was very wet and I had a hard time breading then without them falling apart. Any tips for nest time?

I've been waiting to try this recipe,so I bought a can of the wild pink salmon and tried it yesterday. They were fabulous. My husband couldn't stop eating them. The leftovers, warmed in the oven tonight were even better. Like another review,I too, had to add the breadcrumbs to the mixture ,as it was too wet, but, they came out delicious.
Melissa has become one of my favorites,so I tape her show every Sunday. I wish it was longer than it is, as she always seems rushed. She has a super personality and I 'd enjoy any show she 's in.Please put her on more often

These salmon patties are excellent. The flavor is very, very good. I mixed the parmesan cheese and panko bread crumbs into the salmon/potato mixture because the mixture was too wet. I pan fried the cakes in a little of the bacon grease and vegetable oil. I also used boneless, skinless salmon instead of the canned salmon. It is more expensive but worth the convenience of not having to pick out bones and skin. This recipe is definitely a hit!

I rely on food network for my weekly dinners and this is one of the first that I rated because I feel I need to put a different perspective on the 5-star rating. I am not sure why this is getting such good reviews! We are New Englanders so we love seafood in our house but Salmon in the can is one of the NASTIEST things! I was weary when I bought it because we are so accustomed to fresh seafood but still decided to give it a whirl because of the ratings. It turned my stomach (and my husband?s from the moment I opened the can and had to remove the weird bones and the slimy skin ICK! I was looking forward to this recipe and love salmon but this was only worthy of the garbage disposal! The cakes were too moist and mushy but worst of all, they tasted like tuna once cooked!!! This was definitely a disappointment?we ended up ordering a pizza! Sorry Melissa?

These are so good over a mesclun salad that you don't even need any tartar sauce on them. They come out pretty perfect, although a little messy to debone the canned salmon.

I do not like the bacon fat and changed that with olive oil. The cakes came out perfectly and everyone loved them. Thanks for another great one !

Thanks for such an excellent recipe, Melissa! These were honestly the best salmon patties I've ever made. I've tried many recipes, but I found what I was looking for right here. My only change was to dredge the patties in panko bread crumbs instead of regular ones and I used more than 1/4 c. oil to fry them. I used enough to cover the patties about 1/2 way up in the pan, but I cooked them at a high enough heat that they weren't greasy.

Loved these salmon cakes. I also tried them once with canned tuna and although they tasted different they were still really good.

I served them with grits and that was good, also thought they might be good with hush puppies and a side salad.

I made this recipe exactly as directed. I was dissapointed with the fishy taste and strange taste. My husband kind of liked them, but I didn't. I ended up throwing away what my husband didn't eat.

This raises plain old salmon cakes to a new level. I made these for hubby and he knew it wasn't my old recipe after the first bite. I have also made them for company. Now one of my favorite dishes! Wow.
