This was a delicious meal! I made it with the aparagus and my husband loved it. I read all the reviews and am perplexed at how anyone could get this recipe wrong. The trick is to not play with the mixture to much. I used Italian bread crumbs and a bit more parmesan cheese and the cakes turned out perfect.
    Thanks Melissa!

Wonderful recipe! Wanted to try it as soon as I saw it prepared on Sunday.
Made it Monday night and it's a keeper!

I am planning on making this for dinner tomorrow night. However we don't eat bacon, and my husband is not a cheese lover. Anyone try this without the bacon? Or maybe I could use a soy alternative? Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hey Jaime, Connie, and Montye,

Did it ever occur to you Jaime that possibly your sister just can't cook? I mean really who would feed a boss an untested recipe? Amateur hour, for sure!!!! Connie your dog ate good?, Actually your dog ate well!! Montye, the premise of the show is to create a meal for a family of four on a budget, $10.00 to be exact, hence the name of the show, so what part of that did you interrupt to mean that ALL her recipes were original?
Stop being haters. Life is too short!!!!

Get this, ...I am a chef, own my own restaurant and am successful, but can't cook for my family when I get home, because its too stressful to come up with healthy...when I cook gourmet fat ! Thanks to just your few episodes, I can put together something healthy at the cafe....without thinking anymore !! My family is bored. I can only cook well for my family if I am on vacation !!!

God Bless You Melissa. You have a world out there that loves you. No need to pay attention to some of the foolishness on this review column.... you have a ton of fans with just your few episodes.

This was the first recipe of Melissa's I tried. The complexity of flavors was wonderful. Each bite gave you a different experience. As for the comments regarding the cakes falling apart...I refrigerated mine for 10 minutes prior to frying and they held together perfectly!

I have made my Mothers recipe for salmon cakes for my family for years. They have enjoyed my salmon cakes.

I tried this recipe today and my family and I thought the salmon cakes were DELICIOUS!

The mayonaise added additional moistness to the cake, the dijon mustard added a kick, and the lemon zest added a freshness and brightness to the salmon cake.

The bacon added another layer of flavor as did the bread crumbs with parmesan cheese.

I will be adding this recipe to my recipe file.

I read the comments and was worried that my cakes would fall apart, but mine turned out beautiful. I had left over salmon steaks that I flaked up instead of the canned. The mayo blend had such a good flavor. I did add a pinch of red pepper flakes to make my heat loving husband happy. Delicious.
    Thanks Mellissa.

Growing up we were 5 sisters...and mom was always coming up with ways to save on cost to feed a growing family. I remember that she used instant potatoes in the tuna cakes. It make enough to fee a family of 7. We love salmon cakes and this recipe reminded me of my younger days...Thank you for sharing. I have tried all of your recipes so far and love them all...I know that is going to be a hit /my husband loves salmon patties...We are big fans of your N.R.Hills, Texas..you make us proud.
