I warned my sister of these recipes but she insisted on trying them. Unfortunately it was also for a dinner with her husbands boss. The recipe listed on this site does mention bones in passing but does not mention that those same bones are EVERYWHERE in those cans. During the aired segment, Mel COVERS the salmon bones with her hand and moved on. The asparagus was not roasted after 10 minutes and they CANNOT carmelize. They emit no natural sugars that would produce such an effect. However, they would BROWN eventually. My poor sister served raw asparagus and salmon bone patties to her husbands boss. Lovely.

I have been cooking for 18 years, and I rarely mess up a recipe. These cakes fell apart in the pan and made a huge mess. They looked so good on the show, but even while I watched it, I thought okay how can that much mayo and mustard stay together, then I thought okay maybe the bread crumbs hold it together. (I should of went with my own thoughts what a waist of money and time, but hey they dogs loved it!

Ugh. I do not normally get on here and ramble to people because of their comments, however, I have seen this person leave this sort of comment on each of Melissa's recipes. Do you honestly believe than any of the recipes you see on food network are brand new? That's delusional. What's makes someone a great cook is that they can take an old recipe and make it new again. I do not believe that Ina invented parmesian chicken, however, I love hers the best. Get the point?? Anyway, made this entire meal last night and my family loved it! It was better than my original salmon recipe and I loved the parmesian crust!

Hey Marissa, I wondered if you have tried this receipe with a crab instead of the salmon? Or anyone, for that matter. Thanks!

I had dinner guests last night and made this fish cake. I do not like salmon so I used tuna instead like I always do for salmon cake recipes. It was delicious. I think I'll be using this new one most of the time instead of my other one. My guests loved it! Melissa is great!

Ok I didn't have salmon on hand but was dying to make these so I used tuna. My "picky" toddler & I ate them, they melted in our mouths (in fact the only complaint from my toddler was I couldn't get another one on his plate fast enough :
Thank You so much for this recipe we will be eating these weekly!!

Although Montye & I have many recipes in common, Melissa I choose to try yours.
Montye I suggest that you go back to your OLD receipes and find one that suits your pallet since you have ALL the receipes.
I find that Melissa's are very refreshing and brings my long lost memory back to a good fish receipe. Thanks very much Melissa.

Kudos to Melissa. Her salmon cakes were the best! Canned salmon has the extra calcium my body needs and now I've finally found a recipe I enjoy eating because her recipe has hit the mark for taste. Melissa was my pick from week 3 forward and I'm delighted the Food Network judges selected her. Not only is her presence a breath of fresh air on Food Network, but her recipes are simple and delicious and provide the balance I'm looking for when I prepare meals for myself. I, too, wish she were on in the evening or at least later in the day. It's a difficult time for me to watch her and have only been able to see her on two episodes. Thank you, Melissa for sharing your flavors, tips and expertise with us!

This dish will even make us non-fish lovers eat fish. It is simple and to the point. It is a great dish if you have guest coming over and want to impress them with healthy food, and plates real nice for good impressions. Way to go Melissa...
