There seems to be a recurring theme to Melissa's recipes: either her seasoning so overwhelms her main ingredient the dish is ruined or it's so bland you wonder why you spent money on ingredients in the first place. This dish was a BIG MISS I'm sorry to report. Bananas are naturally sweet, particularly when sauteed so why use so much butter and sugar, both which were overkill IMO, and also pretty unhealthy. The worst was the overbearing orange juice which overpowered the banana taste. I thought all the tastes were fighting. I'd recommend 1/2 T. butter, 1/2 t. of sugar and maybe 1 T. max on the OJ. Sour cream + brown sugar is well known as a fruit dip, but the amount of cinnamon overkilled the sauce, so use way less than the amount listed. I think Melissa needs tasters before she shows her recipes on TV. She constantly confirms that at best she's a mediocre cook and she definately needs to rework her recipes.

I made this recipe and decreased the amount of sugar. I just made it for myself so I used one banana and 4 grams of unsalted butter to saute with. Then I used one tablespoon or so of fat free Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. In the yogurt I used 7 grams of brown sugar and a touch of cinnamon. After the bananas had caramelized I removed them from the pan and added a splash of water then added the juice from a clementine orange and about 4 grams of brown sugar, let it boil and reduced. It was great. Need to add the water or the juice may evaporate to quickly in a hot pan.

We needed a quick dessert, and haven't been shopping in quite a while. I remembered watching Melissa make this recipe, and with the minimal list of ingredients, I was able to whip this out quickly - and it is quite tasty.

We only had fat-free sour cream in the house, so I used it - and it worked fine!

This is a very tasty and easy dessert. I enjoy watching Melissa after church on Sundays, so I missed her when she was not there on Sundays. I enjoyed watching her compete on Food Network and rooted for her each week. I don't know how she developed this recipe, but I am glad I tried it. I will prepare this again.

I love you Melissa and thrilled you are back, but I don't love the taste of cooked bananas. Maybe I didn't cook them fast enought, but they were mushy and, well, icky. I don't use that word very often because it sounds kindof juvenille, but that's exactly what came out of my mouth when I tasted these bananas. Going to try the carrot soup and tuna/bread salad this weekend. Marilyn

I made the carrot soup from this episode and ended up with an orange with no zest on it. With all the other ingredients for this recipe at home, I figured this would be a nice treat. Holy cow, was it great. Followed it to a "t" except I left out the the orange zest in the topping. Wasn't sure about the topping, but it was mild and there was only a tablespoon of it. My family would have loved a cup each! A keeper of a recipe!
