Too bad I didn't read the comments below before making this. It was great until I followed the recipe and ruined it with the red wine vinegar! Even if you didn't use red wine and just switched the amounts of apple cider and red wine vinegar, I think it would be really good. Will try again.

This dish was very bitter and neither my husband nor I liked it.

My husband really liked but the kids not so much. I did make it with red wine vinegar not realizing the recipe was not written correctly. It ended up being a little too tart for me and the kids but as I stated, my husband really liked. I will make again using the red wine like Melissa did.

The comments that many made are correct. In the show, Melissa used red wine, not red wine vinegar. In the process she used apple cider vinegar and made a point of associating it with the apple she used in the recipe. Melissa cooked correctly. Once again, Food Network needs to be more careful in listing the recipes. Is a chef suppose to cook great and then edit Foodnetwork's accuracy in listing recipes? Foodnetwork, your bad, not her's. Is an apology coming?

She used red wine and apple cider vinegar, so the red wine vinegar in the recipe is just a typo.

It looked great--even for a non-cabbage lover like me.

I find her shows great, I love the recipes--they are easy and affordable without being too much in the tuna casserole line. Plus, I'm learning more about cooking as I watch her. I love all the tips she throws in.

I couldn't wait to try this recipe for my family~~of husband and 5 boys. We usually love cabbage; and actually like sauerkraut too; but this dish was too tart/sour for my clan. I was disappointed that it wasn't a hit. It was easy and colorful and a inexpensive dish. I'm hopeful that I'll find more successful side dishes from Melissa in future~~ I know she's a hit!

I love Cabbagge so I knew I had to make this recipe. It was delicious, quick and easy to make. The fennel gave it a good kick.

I have not made this dish yet but while reviewing the show and saving the recipe on my IPod, I noticed she uses RED WINE and not red wine vinegar to deglaze the pan. Melissa used a small splash of Cider Vinegar near the end to add a small level of tang. Hope this helps... :D
