I followed the recipe and felt it was lacking in flavor. Didn't like butter w/the Chinese flavor. I loved the suggestion below using Asian Sesame Panko breading...(Inb1993 Not sure if I'd cut up in pieces next time...might cook as a whole chicken breast to give it more moisture. This is the only recipe of Melissa's that I didn't like so far...............Love all the others I've tried!

I have made this several times with alterations each time but the one my family really likes is I use Asian Sesame Panko for the breading. My husband doesn't normally like Sesame Chicken because it is too sweet but he and my daughter both love this. Good Luck.

Delicious!! Make sure to get all the extra moisture off the chicken before baking, the first time mine was pretty runny because I didn't.

Love love love this recipe! Full of Flavor and the meat was so tender! I sprinkled a little seasoning salt over the chicken before I put it in the oven. And I made another batch of the marinade and cooked it stovetop to thicken it (can't remember if I added cornstarch or not and I poured the sauce over the chicken after I took it out the oven. Divine!

this receipe was just ok. I thought the flavors were good, but my husband was totally turned off by the texture of the coating when baked. Very mushy (maybe I used too much butter?. I'm thinking of next time maybe pan frying or deep frying to get the texture it needed.

I made this for the first time last night and I have to agree with many of the other reviewers in that it was just too bland and the chicken didn't get a crisp coating. I am going to ramp up the red pepper flakes, add teriyaki instead of soy, and at least once minced garlic clove, with a combination of flour and bread crumbs and I will also spray the chicken with olive oil once on each side as it cooks. When I try it again and change things up a bit, I'll post and let you know how it turned out.

As much as I enjoy Melissa, this was not as awesome as usual. I tried panko crumbs to get a crisper chicken but the crust was still a bit soft. Seasonings were good but too bland for us. I think I'll try a similar preparation with breast halves and extra seasonings and bump up the oven temp a bit and see if I can get a crunchier coating and still get that tender juicy chicken that is so good in this recipe.

Simple, simple, simple, and tasty. Baking in a hotter oven helps to make it more crispy.

I made this day with a few changes. I doubled the orange marmalade and added 2 cloves of garlic (crushed and some grated ginger and light soy. I overnighted it with the marinade. I used half bread crumbs and flour and a few grinds of pepper. I didn't wipe the chicken off, just put it on a rack for a few min. The chicken was quite wet when I put it in the bag with the crumbs. A few shakes and all the crumbs and flour were stuck to the chicken. The excess of marinade gave the coating a nice flavor. I placed on parchment and sprayed them with some oil. It took 15 min. on the first side then I turned them and sprayed with a little more oil. In 10 min. they were crunchy on the out side and moist on the inside.

I was so excited to try this recipe after watching the show. I was sad when it didn't turn out like I had hoped, it was very bland. So the next time I made it I added a few of my own "tricks" to give it some flavor, and it turned out delicious!!! I used panko bread crumbs and some chopped coconut instead of flour, I doubled the marinade recipe, added 2 cloves minced garlic and 1 tsp grated ginger. I also garnished with some chopped green onions. I've also sub frozen chicken nuggets and it's still great.
