This recipe is truly a favorite in our home. Dinner here is served to 16 people (minimum - mostly TEENAGERS - every night so it is always a plus to find a recipe with easy preparation and appeal to a wide variety of palates. Easily able to multiply for a bigger audience, this is a great dinner for a crowd.
My daughter and I have each made this dinner many times and find that substituting traditional Panko bread crumbs instead of flour gives the meal a more interesting appeal. We have found that bigger strips are better than the small chunks of chicken - more appealing, less breading and more 'meal-like'.
Jasmine steamed rice, Japanese green beans, and a mandarin orange ginger toss salad round it out!

Great recipe however I also agree it was a tad bland. Next time I will use garlic & ginger as well to add more flavor. Instead of flour I used corn starch and baked the chicken in a glass dish. Served with plain white rice & packets of soy sauce. Also served with her Orange-Ginger Wontons which were outstanding!

I normally love Melissa's recipes, but I found this one to be really bland. I marinated the chicken for 6 hours and it still had very little flavor. I was out of parchment paper so I used tinfoil, and I found that the melted butter was tending to burn on the bottom of the chicken by the end of the cooking time. I served the chicken with stir fried rice, which fortunately added some flavor to the meal, but I wouldn't recommend this one without some substantial recipe tweaks.

Great recipe! My kids love this, so now I will be making it more often. The reason I left off a star is that I found in the flour/sesame coating many of the sesame seeds got wasted and thats a bummer because they are the most expensive ingredient. Next time I may just use a little less flour. Still a keeper and one to play around with.

Made tonight and came out great thanks to all the reviews! I did double the sauce, but did not double the soy sauce as the sauce looked very dark which didn't seem right for a sesame sauce. I added garlic and a little ginger for more flavor. I also added a tablespoon of sesame oil which really gives that flavor of asian restaurant style entrees. I marinaded in 2/3 the sauce for 6 hrs. I drained the sauce & patted the chicken dry. I used Panko Crumbs instead. I sprayed the chicken with cooking spray before baking instead of butter. Lastly, I lightly tossed the chicken in some of the remaining sauce.

I love Melissa, but this was just ok. I did make a second batch of the marinade and grated some ginger on the top, which helped. My family didn't say much about it, so I don't think I'll make it again. It was easy, but just not flavorful enough. Bummer.

I have to agree with some of the other reviews. I found this pretty tasteless too and next time I will make a second batch of marinade to toss it in after it's cooked. I think I will also use Panko instead of flour because I really didn't like the taste of this breading. Will add garlic too next time because this recipe definitely needed more flavor.

I expected much more from this receipt than the outcome. Not enough flavor, not tender, very easy though. Maybe next time will try again and make some changes.

Pretty tasteless. The chicken could definitely use garlic? more marmalade, something. I read the reviews and used panko instead of flour and the chicken did brown up and was crunchy. I also upped the temp in my oven and this helped. I really wanted to like this recipe but I will change it considerably if I use it again.
