This dish is absolutely wonderful! I've made it before for a crowd and it was a huge hit! It also feeds a lot of hungry people. I'll be making it again this week for my in-laws. Thanks for another wonderful go-to dish Melissa.

At my son's birthday/St. Patrick's Day party (his birthday is March 16th, I made this recipe. No one seemed enthused at first, but after they tasted this version, they could not get enough! Although I doubled the recipe, it all went! I thought this was an easy recipe, and followed it with the exception of cooking frozen peas and carrots before adding them in. It was truly delicious, and I will be making every year!!

This recipe is a bit time consuming, but sooo worth it. It has moved to my favorites list and will be one I use often, especially when family comes in from out of town. The bacon/drippings, rosemary, and dark beer (I used Killian's gave it such a wonderful full-bodied flavor. I'd never boiled garlic cloves in potatoes (I used 8 small, but it was terrific; and not too garlic-y. I didn't have a 10" round pan, so I used my 9X13 glass baking dish. It fit perfectly, but I'd suggest putting a pan under while it cooks, as it may bubble over a bit. Someday I may try it with lamb and Guinness beer, but for now, this is the best Shepherd's pie we've ever had. Thank you Melissa.

This is not a busy weeknight meal, at least for me. I made it last night and it took me forever. I'm sure when I get the hang of it more, it will go faster. But it was so worth it!! The layers of flavors were amazing and my family absolutely loved it, ate every bite. This one is definitely a keeper. I can't wait to make it again!!

I made this last night for me and my hubz and he went back for thirds : we both agreed it was the best shepherds pie we had ever had. way better than the one i usually make lol it took a little bit of time to make, and with a 7 month old crying for an hour, it was a little taxing on my nerves, but it was worth it. im glad that i made it. Oh, and i put swiss cheese on top of it instead of cheddar cause it was the only cheese i had, and it was awesome. thanks Melissa!

This was my 4th recipe for a take on Shepherd's Pie and is undoubtedly our new favorite. The garlic in the potatoes, meat cooked with beer, and sharp melted cheese over the top... all really nice touches! The beer that you choose will definitely have an effect on the flavor of the dish! I used a really heavy - molasses flavored - sharp stoudt from a craft brewery. It was ALMOST too much, and I'll probably stick with Guinness or even our favorite Yuengling Lager to flavor the dish next time. I chose to make mine with ground turkey and turkey bacon, and the flavor was still wonderful. **A note to those who make it in the future... mine made more than a 10" pie plate will hold. I ended up splitting it and baking it in two different dishes this time, but I'll choose a small casserole dish to hold it the next time we're making it.
