I made this recipe last night. Hadn't had a shepherds pie since I was a kid and forgot how yummy they are. This was easy and delicious. My favorite combination!

I made this St. Patty's day for my daughter and her family. My son-in-law is Irish so I wanted an Irish meal. Took hardly anytime and was delicious.

So far I have made this dish two weekends in a row...the first time with dry herbs, and the second week with fresh herbs. Both meals were super awesome! I just used half the amount of herbs for the dry, but the way. I didn't add the cheese because I didn't want to add additional fat...plus the potatos were so awesome I didn't want to mask them with the cheese. I can say that the garlic mashed potatoes were so awesome that I will make just that part of the recipe! Super great dish!!!

I made this dish and my family absolutely loved it...and they didn't really care WHAT it was called! I see people giving star ratings, but only obsessing over the title of this dish, NOT the quality. Get over yourselves people...It's just dinner. I'm sure your culture wasn't tarnished by the title of this recipe.

I'm sure this is good, except i was surprised that the meat in this recipe was beef, since a Shepard herds sheep, and lamb is the traditional meat for this dish. . . But I'm sure the recipe would be great with both

Took me about 3 hrs to make, but I'm no pro. It did really help to have everything prepped before hand. Definately worth all the hard work and long wait. VERY VERY YUMMY!! My fiance loved it. He said it had a sweeter taste from normal Shepherd's pie. Will definately make it again. I actually did not have a round baking dish so I used a 13x9 baking dish instead and cooked it about 10 mins shorter. I might go out and buy a round dish so the meat will be a little thicker on the bottom next time around.

This recipe was amazing! So delish. I tweeked it just a tiny bit. For the potatoes: I added a bit more sour cream (Fat free and butter because I think it gave them more taste. The garlic was a nice touch with the potatoes as well. For the beef part I added the carrots with the onions so that they would be softer. I also added celery because I had it in the house. To save time - I cooked my bacon in the microwave and used a tiny bit of Olive Oil with the onions instead of grease. Add extra salt, pepper and rosemary for more flavor. I used grated swiss ontop of potatoes as well as some parmesean. Then I turned on the broiler in order to get a nice crispy top. I used a 9x13 pan as well. *Note it was a lot of preperation/work but so delicious in the end. I made the potatoes the night before so I only had to worry about making the meat.

I was expecting alot of work after reading the reviews, but was still surprised by just how much work. I too recommend doubling the amount of potatoes, I also recommend using a 13x9 pan. I was expecting more of a savory dish but instead got something much sweeter. It was still very good.

I followed the recipe exactly. It was good but not a wow factor! For some reason I seem to think the rosemary did not go well with this. I love rosemary but not in this dish.
