I just made this meal for my wife for Mothers Day. We didn't have a white wine to use so we used a red wine in it's place! I must say this was one of the best meals we have had in a long time!!! VERY easy to make and exceptional flavors! We will be making this again at a family reunion up in Cape Cod Mass. Kudos Melissa for a GREAT MEAL!!!!!!!

I saw this episode and knew that I had to make it. The recipe was amazing! My husband was raving about it. Our noses were running a bit but that is what makes it so good. We substituted the tomato paste and cayenne for the harissa. I may try adding some fresh chopped parsley for color and flavor. We printed the recipe out and put it in our book. We will be making this again and again.

I've made this recipe a couple of times now and it's been a real hit. People don't leave without getting the recipe. Have not used the harissa and have cut down on the red pepper flakes as the Chorizo makes it quite spicy.

Just made this recipe for my fiance who has never had a mussel in his life.... and it was AWESOME!!!! I didn't have any pepper flakes so I just added more cayenne pepper, which worked for us because we like our food HOT! I wish I had more bread because this recipe makes a LOT of juice... but it's okay... we saved all the excess and I'll make it with some pasta and shrimp this week :

I was watching this episode of "The Best Thing I Ever made" this morning from my DVR and decided this looked so good I needed to make it! Very happy I did. I had to use frozen mussels, the tomato paste alternative, and a rose wine (it's what I had on hand and I couldn't buy white whine since I live in a state where I can't buy alcohol on Sunday, and I threw in some shrimp. The broth was so good, I could have easily left out the seafood and just sopped up all that broth with a huge loaf of bread!

Though this was good, I expected much more from something that was "The Best Thing I Ever Made". I compared these with Joe's Crab Shack "Mussels Diablo", which I thought were superior. If you can't find harissa, you can make it quite easily with salt, olive oil, dried red chili peppers, garlic, corriander, caraway, and cumin. Google "harissa recipe" for full instructions.

Delicious! My husband is allergic to mussels so I used shrimp instead and it was wonderful.
