Melissa, this was outstanding. I had everything on hand I needed to make this. I used one of the baguettes I had in the freezer bought per your tip on buying day old breads. I used Kalamata olives, tuna and lemons I had bought on sale and capers I had left over from Giada's Salsa for Salmon recipe. I love it when a great recipe comes together for next to nothing!! Thanks Melissa for another winner.

this is a good alternative to traditional olive tapenade, adding the green olives and lemon. However, I prefer the traditional recipe that is just black olives, preferably kalamata, and either half or less of the lemon. Is it my imagination or does Melissa add lemon to everything?

Reading these comments makes me very glad I live in San Antonio, TX! $2.85 for a 6 oz can of tuna? $1.00 for a 6 oz can of tuna? I can pick up a 6 oz can of tuna for 69 cents! I found the recipe to be easy and right on target for the budget.

This is an excellent recipe! Best tapenade I've ever made and love the fact that she added the tuna. I think Melissa is great although sometimes she rushes so that I am out of breath!! She was definitely the best and deserved to win The Next FN Star, in my opinion. I look forward to her show and her recipes being on more often!

This is a great way to eat a healthy snack, meal. And it was totally under $10, I think the assumption is that we have these things in our pantry. She really has fabulous ideas.

Baguettes in the 4 supermarkets in my town are $3.25. I can get a can of black olives for $1.39 and the green ones are more -- no less than $2.29. I use a lot of capers and they are around $3 for a large jar. A lemon runs $.50 and a can of tuna in oil (on sale will run at least a dollar.

That's about $10 or more for just this one recipe.

Recipe sounds wonderful. Can't wait to try it this weekend. Love tapenade, love tuna, love idea of combining them for a main course. I don't know about Richmond, VA, but in St. Louis, I am able to get tuna on sale frequently for $1.00-$1.50/can (white, solid albacore. Olives and capers might be cheaper in grocery store salad bar or olive bar (just buy quantity that you need for recipe.

Not really rating the recipes - cause I really want to try some of these. I love watching the show, but to prepare alll that she prepares for $10 - it can't happen. I know tuna is around $2.85 a can -- two jars of olives, plus capers? Ok, so that isn't $10 yet -- but then add the cheddar cheese for tortillas, lime, black beans, and more. It just can't be done for $10.

I made this according to the recipe above and found it much too lemony for my taste. I'll be trying it again but changing the proportions. Like others have said, I didn't add any salt.

I would suggest that others making for the first time back off on the lemon juice and zest to start. You can always add more after tasting!
