What a fabulous recipe!! I didn't have any bacon so I left it out. No need for all of that grease, the flavors were wonderful without it. My son claimed it was the best thing he had eaten at my house for a long time. That could be a comment on my cooking, but I give the recipe all of the credit. When the chicken was gone, I used the broth and beans as a soup the next day. This is a must try.

This was very good -- made it for the first time last night. I drained off about half of the bacon great because I just couldn't bring myself to leave it in, but there was still plenty of flavor. I also used boneless skinless chicken thighs.
My husband loved this -- will definitely make it again.

This one got RAVE reviews from my family. My Husband and Son normally only like to eat the familiar, but from the first bite of this one, it was a winner. I make it probably every other week.
I thought it was fairly easy to assemble (compared to some other recipes. I promised to make it today, so I had better get the
chicken out to room temp.

Good but Definately NOT lo-fat! This is made with bacon grease, and that is what gives it the flavor, So make this lo-fat by draining off the grease and seasoning it with less thyme and I would use Basil, pettite diced tomatoes at the first baking time. The beans add great flavor and texture. This was alot of work, not sure I woudl do it agian.

I love this dish. Made it twice so far - once I cut the thigh bones, the other time I didn't. I can't believe I almost skipped out on putting the tomatoes on this. They are my favorite part with the garlic breadcrumbs...mmmm yum!
Once I used thick bacon and another time I used turkey bacon which was just as yummy and less greasy. The northern beans in this dish are really awesome - my kids loved them! They seem to soak up the flavors of the pot.

This recipe was verfy good but I think the thyme was very strong and over powering, next time I will use 1 teaspoon instead of 2.

This recipe is excellent and good for guests, as well as family, as it contains all foods necessary for a nutriitous meal. Took a little time for preparing (chopping veggies, but worth every minute. The idea of taking off the skin after browning is a wonderful idea, as less fat would be in the final product. Also, good hearty meal for the upcoming Winter months. Congratulations, Melissa.

Loved this recipe. It is so delicious and not too hard to put together. I scooped out some of the grease b/c I had to use thick bacon v. slab. I think that's why some people think it's too greasy. If you don't use slab bacon, you may get more grease. A great use for end-of-summer fresh tomatoes.

This was a very tasty dish. I have made cassoulets before.
I think the breadcrumbs help to thicken and enrich this one.
