This was terrific! My only complaint was that there weren't enough leftovers...

    absolutely amazing recipe...
takes about 1.5 hrs to prep (onions for 30 min, browning pork, and i always do a lot more than the recipe before it gets to the oven, but is sooooooooooooooooo worth it. this is a go to recipe for a large group. just made it for 5 ppl with corn tortillas and still have enough for at least another 5 (from a 4lb pork. i shred the meat out of the pot and add the sour cream, then add all the meat back into the pot (not straining it or anything, but removing the bayleaf and orange, and it adds amazing flavor into each piece.
this is very worth the time and payoff is deliciousness in your mouth!!!

They were very good. The slaw made a refreshing taste to the pork. I would make the slaw the day before so its a little less crunchy. I had to double the recipe and I used 1 cup of red wine and 2 cups of white. Also I would put more jalapenos. My husband is from Mexico and he thought I should make these instead of Carnitas. His comment was "Holy s..., these are good!

I didn't realize how long this would take until I got to the part where it said to cook for 3 hours! But it's all good and came out GREAT!! My wife and son loved it too.
I left out the fennel as my son's not a big fennel fan, but next time I may make 2 batches of slaw, one with and one without fennel.
Can't wait to make it again soon!

The hubby and I thought that these were the BEST tacos ever! I followed the recipe exactly and loved the way it came out. We're not big on slaw, so we just used shredded lettuce with the grated parmesan cheese. The sauce is delicious! Definitely add the sour cream to finish the sauce.

oh my. this is so good. made it tonight... will be dinner tomorrow. It could have been thrown in the crock pot instead of the oven just as well! I used turkey bacon instead of regular bacon to lighten it up a little... also, did not add any additional oil to the pot. I had fresh oregano, so I used that... and... the oranges I had were little cuties mandarin oranges, so I used 2. Delicious! Also, for the sauce, I used fat free sour cream. It's really tasty & i did not detect any lack of flavor!

I'll be making the cole slaw to top it tomorrow... i'm just using regular cole slaw mix in the bag... not fennel... but i'm using the dressing the recipe suggests.
