First, I confess that I used romaine lettuce instead of kale because kale was super-expensive when I went to the store today. I'm not overly fond of salad, but thought this would be just another nice-enough salad that I wouldn't have too much trouble choking down. What a surprise I had when I found I was so crazy about it that I couldn't stop eating it! This was the BEST salad I've ever had in my life! I couldn't believe it. I can't wait to have it again!

I tried the listed ingredients with kale and did not care for it. This is a very typical salad with the only change being substituted kale for your favorite lettuce. Whole Foods has a great kale salad periodically in their prepared foods section and the ingredients which include cranberries are better suited for kale.
Melissa is very difficult to watch as her speaking voice is in no way calm or relaxing. Also, the cost of this salad greatly exceeds $10. In all due respect, the show should carry a different name. Sandra Lee is believable; this simply is way off the $10 mark every week.

Great healthy new salad to add to my regularly served dishes. Even the leftovers are tasty the next day since the kale doesn't wilt ! Frugal, with no waste. WOW Can't wait to surprise everyone with this dish at my next backyard cookout. Thanks Melissa, you rock .

I was very skeptical about raw kale, but finally got my nerve up and made it. My husband and I loved this salad, ate every morsel, and will definately make this again. I used Feta because that's what I had.

I'd never thought of using kale raw, but what a delicious surprise! We get kale in our CSA deliveries quite often in the winter, and I'm sick of sauting it or using it in soup so was really excited when she made this. I mixed the dressing separately rather than drizzling the oil and vinegar over the leaves. This really was delicious and will be in our regular rotation for using up all that winter kale!

I didn't have the guts to use the kale, so I used romaine instead. I also used feta instead of blue cheese The pear and the balsamic was a good combo. Overall it was simple yet delicious.

I confess that I just couldn't imagine raw kale in a salad so I chickened out and used spinach. My husband and I really liked the salad because it was such an interesting combination of flavors. I will definitely make it again - but I'll stick to spinach.

What a wonderful unique salad !!!! I had never had raw kale (always cooked it with either collard, mustard and/or swiss chard. I decided to try this because I love toasted pecans, pears and blue cheese. All the flavors married well and toned down the strong flavor of the kale. It was wonderful the next day. The kale does not wilt like lettuce. I made some for my neighbor and even her husband loved it. I thorougly enjoyed this Salad and will make it for my next dinner party..... Keep up the good work Melissa... linda g.

I have just discovered how great kale is this winter. This is the second recipe I've used it in and really enjoyed it in a salad. I even got my husband to try it and my 18 year old son who only likes regular salads and blue cheese dressing. He didn't eat a lot of it but did eat what I gave him.
I will be making this again!
