The cake is a little dense, it's almost like a pound cake which I like. It is very easy to make and I will take it any day over a store bought yellow cake mix. If you don't want it to be too heavy, cut down the butter and use skim milk instead of half and half. I will use this recipe again with some minor tweaking. I like Melissa's recipes, they are simple, practical, and perfect for working moms who don't have all day in the kitchen.

Turned out great. I will say that the cake recipe maybe isn't the best I've ever had but it cooked with no problem & I heated the 1/2 & 1/2 in the microwave just like she did on the show & then just mixed the choc chips in there. I added little more choc chips since I like a little thicker ganache. All in all I love that she used basic ingredients that I always have on hand & it was very easy to make. Love that these are portable & if you have leftovers, you just put a cap on it!

I believe the amount of butter in this recipe could be cut in half. I made it as directed, but the consistency baked up very pound cake like. Very heavy and too rich. Using the half and half with the large amount of butter was too much.
