I just made this dessert. WOW! I substituted the biscotti, which I forgot to buy, with cinnamon pita chips that I had in the pantry. Mmmmm! I plan on making this again for friends. If you love strawberries, this is one easy dish you will love to make again and again.

I made this with several other treats for a party and this was attracted a lot of questions and a lot of surprised reviews. A big hit.

We used local heirloom strawberries (Cavendish and Sparkle, almond biscotti, our "expensive" balsamic (better than ordinary grade, not precious, and Splenda (not superfine sugar. The flavors were absolutely terrific together -- very sophisticated, tart/sweet, but the instructions regarding "smoothing" the mascarpone -- it wouldn't "smooth" right from the fridge, so we expect that it needs to be at room temp, but the recipe doesn't say so. We'll try again!
