A most superb drink. Very good. Very tasty.

This comes with the caveat that I and most of my friends strongly dislike Campari, but one of my friends said it best:
"The only way to describe this drink would be to say it tastes like a bottle of bitter tasting perfume and gin exploding in your mouth!"
Campari and vermouth are also relatively expensive. You'd probably be better off with a gin or vodka and tonic (maybe spice it up with some fresh fruit? OR you can ask each couple to bring a cheap bottle of wine that they like to the party.

My husband & I are not Italian and we have never cared much for Campari, however, this drink is a nice blend of all of the ingedients and even though it is somewhat bitter, it is a nice before dinner drink.

My wife's best friend loves Campari, and loved this drink. I think Campari is strange and bitter, and wasn't too fond of the drink. I agree with another reviewer - if you can try the drink first somehow, you might not want to invest in an entire bottle of Campari.

Only one of my guests liked this drink--and she was a native Italian. Maybe Negroni is an acquired taste, but I really don't think I'm willing to give it another try. Campari is pretty expensive too, so if you can give it a try before you commit to making the drink, that might be a good idea.
