These came out perfect. I did make my fries thinner, as we like crispy, thin fries. Make sure you use a good cheese, not the cheap stuff. Yummy....
I did read the reviews first, and did not have a problem.

Using all of the recommended cheese makes them very strong, use a little less

These fries were not hard to make and tasted very good!! Be careful not to boil the potatoes too long or when you go to mix them they will fall apart. Very good recipe, though!

This is a great change to the traditional French Fry. Excelent served with the Turkey Polpettone Sandwiches and maranara sauce instead of ketchup. We enjoyed this lunch after playing in the snow... great way to warm up.

it was hard to get the fries to brown and the cheese to melt, i definitly had to crank the oven way up, expect to cook for longer than directed, taste more like potatos than fries but did taste good

This recipe didn't work out at all for me anyways, the fries came out bland and burnt b/c I kept wanting a crispy fry and it just wasn't happening

These are outstanding. I thought a lot more work would be involved but after skinning and slicing the potatoes, your work is over. I would recommend using the broiler for the last 5 minutes for a little more crisp.

the type of potato matters. Did those who got soggy fries that would not brown use potatoes not best suited for baking?

OK - Totally agree that there's a problem with these fries browning. They don't brown. But the flavor is excellent. And my argument with my family was, "In-N-Out fries aren't brown either, and they're delicious". They didn't buy it. So we argued a bit more, and reminded ourselves that we're talking about a french fry.
