I just made this soup and had to write my first review. It was so delicious! I only have a toaster oven so I made a third of the recipe, but it still worked great. I'm also not a huge fan of pears, so this was a great way to enjoy the two lonely pears that were in my fruit bowl going uneaten. I also think this would make a great sauce for poultry or pork loin. I didn't see the episode so I didn't add apple juice and it was thick enough to be a sauce. Thanks Michael!

I served this as a first course to a traditional Easter dinner. I thought it was delicious and even my husband, who doesn't typically enjoy something a bit unusual liked it. All of my guests really enjoyed it. I added caramelized onions to the "bruchetta."

I am not a big fan of pears. But when I watch this soup being made, I thought it was something I had to try. I was not disappointed. I ate half the soup at the first setting. I heated the leftovers, very slightly. I thought it could not possibley be as good as the hot soup, but is was. Even cold is good. I will being preparing this recipe for my friends and family.

This soup was delicious! It's easy to make and works well as desert or the main course. It does make a lot (enough for me and two others to eat on for three days, so next time I'll cut the recipe in half.

but I just saw this episode today and this recipe seems like a real winner. And yes, Michael did add apple juice to thin the mixture when he added the pears to the blender. This seems like a great wintertime preparation. I'm actually thinking I might serve this soup as a dessert fondue. Hmmm...

i ended up cutting the pears a little smaller, as they weren't getting soft enough fast enough. i also didn't add enough sage, but i must say that this is a great recipe. it's quick, delicious and is great for impressing your friends (which is really what it's all about anyway, right?

I have not made this soup yet, but I saw this episode on TV earlier this week and I was sure apple juice was added to the blender with the pears and brown butter. I don't see this step listed in the recipe, however. Can anyone confirm this? Or set me straight?

Well, Folks, the pear soup with blue cheese toast was superb! My mistake was to serve them as appetizers instead of dessert. They were so delicious and fascinating to my diners that I couldn't move everyone on to the next course! They all wanted seconds and thirds. So much for the rest of my dinner... Thanks, Michael! These were wonderfully tasty. BTW, I prepared the toast with Stilton on raisin bread. Sensational!
