This is SO good! I wanted to gobble up the breadcrumbs while they were toasting. It was definitely worth the extra effort. I didn't change much about this except to use gluten free cornflake crumbs in place of bread crumbs because I'm gluten intolerant. I also was extremely careful about the amount of salt I used, because I'm trying to watch my salt intake. This dish not only tasted great, but was a stunning presentation. Just remember to blanch the asparagus for only 60 seconds, as the video recommends. I'll be making this one again!

    PERFECT!!!!!

We made these for the family gathering on Easter and have been asked to bring them again on Mother's Day. For once we followed the recipe (almost exactly (we added a little spice to the bread crumb mixture. One of the best things about this dish is that it can be made ahead and finished off in the oven at your destination just before serving --- AND --- later in the day the asparagus is just as good at room temperature with leftovers from the big meal. Can't wait to enjoy them again. Thanks Michael - another keeper from your kitchen to ours.

Just finished eating this as part of Christmas breakfast, made by yours truly. This recipe is great and relatively easy. The only things I changes were the prosciutto (used bacon and I omitted the parsley from the bread crumbs because I couldn't find any. the recipe turned out amazingly! The bread crumbs were crispy and delicious and the asparagus was perfect. I thought the bacon would work out, but sadly it was undercooked. I'll try thinly sliced ham next year if I can't find prosciutto, which I rarely can (if ever. I will definitely be making this again!!!

Thank you for the reviews....I generally read most of them associated with a recipe I intend to try and found the comments on this one very helpful; especially about the blanching. I, too, thought 4 mins. would produce very limp asparagus and am glad this error was pointed out before I got started. Always looking for great presentation pieces that are easy to master.

I followed the recipe except I did not season with additional salt and it was still very salty due to the prosciutto. May opt for thinly sliced ham (sandwich style or turkey next time and will definitely try it with parmesan cheese next time.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT RECIPE AND THE PRESENTATION IS LOVELY. TRY IT FOR THAT SPECIAL OCCASION.
ONCE AGAIN , IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FOOD NETWORK DOES NOT READ AND/OR CARE ABOUT THESE REVIEWS WHICH WE - THE COOKS AND THE PEOPLE WHO WATCH AND SUPPORT FNN - DO. IF YOU ARE A NEW COOK OR DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE REVIEWS/COMMENTS - YOU CAN BE FRUSTRATED WITH THE WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY AND MONEY THAT THESE MISTAKES WILL CAUSE. COME ON FNN! IT'S SUCH AN EASY FIX AND YOU OWE IT TO YOUR VIEWERS TO CORRECT MISTAKES. I AM REFERRING - THIS TIME - TO THE 'BLANCHE IN BOILING WATER FOR 4 MINUTES" DIRECTION. MOST EXPERIENCED COOKS KNOW WHAT "BLANCHING" MEANS AND WILL ADJUST THIS RECIPE, BUT NOT EVERYONE WILL. SUCH A WASTE WHEN THE INGREDIENTS IN THIS DISH ARE QUITE EXPENSIVE.

I don't know if this was mentioned already, but if you watch the video he only blanches the asparagus for 60 seconds, so yeah the 4 minutes in the recipe must just be a mistake. Anyway.. very yummie. :
