    This is one of the very best things I have ever eaten-period. I can not tell you how good these mashed potatoes are. Thanks to Michael Chiarello for this amazing way to make mashed potatoes.

    Relatively subtle flavorings and not overly rich or heavy for this type of dessert. Everyone loved it and I will make it again. The custard mixture should probably be refrigerated before folding in the cream to avoid melting and deflating it.

    I fixed these potatoes for Thanksgiving and my husband could not stop raving about them. In his words, they were the best mashed potatoes he had ever tasted. I did think the consistency was too 'liquidy' in the beginning, so I boiled away a bit of the liquid and all was fine. I think next time I would reduce the butter to 2 sticks and the cream to one cup.
