My husband and I loved this sandwich. The only downside for me is that it is high in fat. It makes a difference the type of sauce you use. I used Bertolli Vineyard Marinara. It was delicious!

Honestly these are fabulous burgers. I did cook mine a bit longer than the recommended time in the fry pan. I've made this recipe three times now and it is one of our family favorites.

I used ground chuck instead of turkey and they came out great. My family loved them!

Polpettone must transalte to giant, salty ball of meat. I followed this recipe to a T with poor results. First off, the size of the turkey patty was too big to be eaten on bread, they should be made smaller. Secondly, it was far too salty. Although I liked the lemon zest, the lemon zest enhanced the suggested two teaspoons of salt and it became overwhelmingly salty. I would avoid this recipe and try rachel ray's spicy chicken meatballs instead.

No mention of putting these burgers into the oven, but we did otherwise they would have been raw and they seem to be turning out OK. These directions need to be corrected, never had this experience before on this site.

These were great! Just varied the recipe a little bit with regular
hamburger meat and chopped roasted red peppers and parsley flakes.
(Don't use sage much! They turned out great!
Also used this recipe with canned salmon and they were also great!
Just use two eggs instead of one in recipe to be sure it is moist enough.
The original recipe I used did not have the marinara sauce, but I am sure
that could only make them even better.

My family loves this recipe. It's so decadent tasting and a nice change from a regular hamburger. We make this only once a month....cuz we feel so guilty eating it!! Make it with oven-fried sweet potato wedges...delicious!!

I watched the episode Michael made these and had to make them for dinner that night...not having ground turkey on hand or fresh sage, I did have to make a couple changes. I used hot ground italian sausage & hamburger in lieu of the turkey AND fresh basil instead of sage. They were outstanding! My kids loved the twist on my regular spaghetti & meatballs and raved about the sandwich style. The mozzerella in the middle was fabulous! I will definitely make again for my next football party.
