This is the second time I made this turkey for Thanksgiving. I added some butter midway through to baste the turkey and it turned out even better than last time. I followed the cooking direction for temperature on the turkey package which is 325 degrees instead of 425, though. I also used a convection oven and set on roast instead of baking. Everyone loved it and couldn't get enough!

This was my first try at the Thanksgiving turkey. Not only was the recipe relatively easy to follow, I got rave reviews all around. According to my mother, I have earned the honor of making the Thanksgiving turkey from now here on out:

This was a great recipe!! It was easy and the Fennel Spice Rub gave it a great flavor. Making your own rack out of the carrots and celery was also a great idea, and made for great gravy later on. Everyone that I shared this with enjoyed it fully, and wanted the recipe.

This recipe is so simple that you almost forget you are preparing the centerpiece of any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
The seasoning and drippings also make some of the best gravy I have ever had! The short cook time surprised me but leaves the turkey juicy and flavorful.
The coloration of the finished product is as close to perfect as anything I have seen! There is nothing better than seeing a whole roasted turkey ready for carving on the dinner table. This is a great technique for cooking whole turkeys.

The fennel spice is different but very good. I hope he comes out with it in a jar like Emeral did

I tried this recipe on Thanksgiving using a 20 lb turkey instead of two. It was the most wonderful turkey I have every tasted. The fennel gave the turkey a slightly sweet taste. The breast meat was very moist. I will make this my traditional turkey recipe from now on.
