Followed the recipe to the T...absolutely delicious. We served it with sharp cheddar, gouda, and a blue cheese! All worked really well with it and we served it over toasted slightly stale bread (had the texture of a crouton and was surprisingly delicious. I will definitely be making this again!

The compote is delicious. I served it over ice cream and french toast. I'll serve it Thanksgiving for an appetizer. I didn't want to open a marsala for just this little amount so I used all white wine.

What a great recipe for compote! I just loved the fact that it was so versatile. Perfect along side a pork roast as well. Delicious and a great Christmas present!

This recipe has been added to my family recipe box. The compote is so good. It is especially delicious with gorgonzola on a flat bread cracker.

I set this out when I had family over for Christmas dinner, I got several compliments. It's fairly sweet and goes well with the strong cheeses and salty rum-glazed nuts I had out as well. Worth a try, for sure.

I substituted port for the Marsala wine because I did not want to buy Marsala just for this dish. No ripe pears so I used dried peaches. I omitted the lemon and lemon zest because it tasted so terrific without. I loved making such a delicious dish which could be made ahead and which does not have lots of fat and other bad things.

Marvelous taste and especially like that it can be prepared ahead.
I substituted sugar with Splenda to cut carbs.
