This recipe sounded so good. I use apple cider in my chicken and dumplings and it is fabulous. This recipe however is very bland. I followed it basically as writen and tried to doctor it up once I realized that it was so bland. No matter what I do it still a bust. I will not be trying this again.

I made this soup for me and my wife while she was out with her friends. After I finished mine, I wanted to hide the rest so that I could have it all for myself. It's that good.

One thing: the recipe says the gruyere is optional. It isn't. Trust me.
