I took a few shortcuts with this one~skipped the anise entirely as I couldn't find star anise (live in a small town in Tennessee, what can you do?!? and substituted ground spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon stick~but never mind as this stuff is DELICIOUS and ADDICTIVE!!! Sipping a mug now as I watch the snow come down outside. Perfect!
I also used the little bit that was left as the base for my homemade Christmas cranberry and *what* an incredible flavor it had.

I own a small wine shop and decided to try this recipe as a treat for my patrons as they browsed the store one weekend last Christmas. It was a hit! I passed this recipe out to at least a dozen people. The taste is pure holiday magic, and I'm sure it would be a great drink to have on hand at your next family or office gathering.

Fruity and delicious! A hit for the holidays. It's like a warm, wintery Sangria.

My family loves this mulled wine recipie so much that I have to make 2 LARGE stock pots full of it for Christmas Eve dinner, and it doesn't last for very long. I just keep making it, and they keep drinking it. Dried cranberries also work in this recipie.....as it is hard to find them fresh or frozen ON christmas eve.
