This is my go to recipe for short ribs. I made this with bone on and boneless short ribs and the results are consistently great. I have served it with mashed potatoes and rice.. either way great!

I made this recipe for Thanksgiving and fell in love with it, but beef short ribs can be pricey and do not usually fit into my budget.
Tried it with beef neck bones which are considerably more economical and the results were great. For sure the short ribs are better, but I was not disappointed with the neck bones at all. Now I can enjoy this great recipe more often without breaking the bank.

Thanks Gina & Pat! I followed the directions, Til it was time to put everything in the oven & transfered it to my crockpot & cooked it on High for 4hrs. Amazingly tender & the orange zest gives it a nice zing & unexpected flavor. I served it over white rice.

This meal is the BEST OF MY LIFE experience. Glad I made extra for my daughter and son-in-law as they also think it was the best. I plan to make this receipe quite often. I read thru the short rib recipes and had a feeling this one was going to be good and it turned out great! Thank you.

So, I followed the instructions exactly, but I pulled the ribs out of the oven after two hours, just to check on their progress. The meat was indeed tender and starting to fall off the bone. However, there was also a HUGE pool of grease floating on the top of the sauce. Even though it tasted OK, I just couldn't feed my family something that greasy. So, I scooped out all the meat and veggies and put them in a bowl while I de-greased the sauce in a gravy separator. Then I put it all back together and put it back in the oven. The flavor was definitely good, but I doubt I will make this again just because of the time and trouble involved in getting rid of the grease.

AS WITH MOST OF THE NEELYS RECIPES THESE ARE GREAT. THE PROBLEM IS THEY TRY TO TURN EVERY SHOW INTO A SOAP OPERA. IT'S A COOKING SHOW NOT A DANCE SHOW, NOT A ROMANCE SERIES. WILL WATCH SHOW WITH SOUND TURNED OFF SO WILL NOT HAVE TO LISTEN TO BABY, SUGAR, SPICE FAIRY, BIG DADDY, AND SWEET GINA. MUCH EASIER TO JUST PRINT THE RECIPES. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
